Sent you a note before but the "enter characters" crap dropped the message because I didn't do it correctly, You know, like a third grader.

I double click and get summary, base station, wireless, access. Above I get airport, internet, music, printings, advanced. Advanced gives me statistics and port mapping. And a note that says Allow SNMP or SNMP over WAN or wank your wan or whatever like any human would know why they would choose anything. But, thanks. At least I get to play.

Hi Gary,

I assume you have double clicked on your AirPort Express in the Airport Utility window so that its settings open in their own window (this is the "Advanced" window). From there, click on the "Wireless" tab (it may be in the "AirPort" section, if that's not already selected). Then, find the pop-up menu for the item called "Radio Mode." This is where you can select which type of radio connections you want to allow for the base station.

Matt, where is the mystery setup for "have the N router set up as being B/G/N compatible" hidden?
Obviously the ethernet goes into the internet connection, and with the usual apple settings of "join?" "participate?" "create" supposedly meaning something different....and I'm assuming WDS is the set up, again, since I haven't seen "set up yoiur N router as being B/G/N compatible" a choice, where is this choice hidden? Thanks.

Gary,
Ideally, the N router should be your main base station, with a G router being your relay/remote station. Of course, you'd need to make sure you have the N router set up as being B/G/N compatible, instead of N only. Otherwise, you G router can't see the N router. Finally, you need to have your internet connection going into your main base station, or it won't work.

I have a "G" and an "N" express. SHould I set the base station to be the "N" and the relay to be the "G" or the other way around? I couldn't get this to work at all today or yesterday (so far, total of 5 hrs spent).

On the main WDS station, you sometimes need to Option-Click to see the "Participate in a WDS Network" setting. That said, I wish I found this guide a week ago. It wasn't rocket science to put together a WDS network, but I expect more from Apple.
