About
Welcome to Mac Guru Lounge! My name is Matt Washchuk, and I started Mac Guru Lounge in 2008 because I wanted to help people better understand and use their Apple computers and devices. While the retail Apple Stores offer free help, they can be incredibly busy, noisy, and too general in their advice, so many people have turned to paid consultants for more support than they really need. On the web, there are several Apple sites dedicated to hints and tips, but they seem to be written only for the most knowledgeable users. I wanted to create a site that would provide valuable advice that all users could understand.
Before becoming a consultant and starting Mac Guru Lounge, I spent a decade using Macs at a professional level, such as three years as a Mac Genius at an Apple Store, several years as a web developer, and two years developing FileMaker databases for K-12 and higher educational institutions. I am currently one of only two people in Portland, OR, qualified as an Apple Certified Support Professional at the 10.6 Snow Leopard level.
